July was a month of progress on several fronts and a wall on one. Also packing boxes, but more on that another time.
Career and Job Board rewrite
The Career and Job Board was originally built during a Wix Blocks hackathon, and the admin was built on top of the Wix Blocks framework. That made sense at the time, but Wix Blocks turned out to be difficult to update and Wix themselves have stepped back from pushing it. So it had been sitting there, hard to touch.
Some feature requests came in that would have required changing the admin anyway, so I used that as the excuse to rewrite the whole thing using Wix CLI. The approach there is essentially writing a standalone React app that gets packaged into the Wix admin dashboard, with some special hooks connecting it to the parent page. Works really well — it’s the same pattern we use across our other apps. Custom fields are in, and the whole thing is now actually maintainable.
Unas – so close
The Unas-Aukro connection is done. We’re pulling products from Unas. The last piece is listing them on Aukro.
Small detour: Aukro is rolling out OAuth2, which is genuinely a good move. The current auth requires storing passwords in our database, which always felt a bit dirty. OAuth2 fixes that. They plan to retire the old flow by end of year, so rather than launch with the legacy auth and migrate it later, we’re building the Unas integration on OAuth2 from the start. A bit more work now, less mess later.
Finding a video editor
Rocci found a video editor on Fiverr (Saqib) to help with the short-form content. Videos are being published again after a gap. Small team problems – when there’s no one to do a specific thing, it just doesn’t get done. Good to have that gap filled.
Website redesign
Rocci has been working on a new design for arbtask.com using Claude design, and it’s looking very promising. Next up is figuring out hosting and what to do with the existing blogs — do they move, do they stay, how does it all fit together. If you have thoughts on that, Marcus Lindblad Engborg – you were a bit of an inspiration for going this direction in the first place 🙂
